I was in Macau Tower, not as a bungee jumper, but as a cheerleader for my husband who fulfilled his dream of doing the bungee jump at AJ Hackett Macau Tower, the world's highest commercial bungee at 233 meters. After several days of pleading him to write about his experience, he finally did!
Here's what he wrote:
Here's what he wrote:
Those were the 3 words I shouted, while on a free-fall, when I tried the bungee jump in Macau. Until now, I couldn't forget the awe and the excitement
from that experience!
Ever since when I was young (around
6th grade, as far as I could remember), it has been a silent
reverie to do the bungee jump. I always had that enormous desire. I was dreaming of how
it feels like doing one and thought someday, I am going to make it happen!
When we got the idea of going to
Macau, the pursuit of doing the bungee jump tickled my senses again. After months of waiting, the day for my dream jump came. Upon arrival in Macau Tower, I registered at the lobby and proceeded to the tower's bungee jump area. I could feel my knees were shaking, my heart was pounding and I was
having seconds thoughts “Will I do it? Will I survive doing it?” Afterwards, I realized that I waited so long for this and I have already paid the expensive fees at the lobby. The bungee jump full package, includes photos, video and a t-shirt, costs US$399. No payment refunds, so no backing out for me.
When we got to the top, I approached one
crew and showed him my payment slip. He gave me the free shirt that comes with the
package, prepared the body harness, and asked me to read and sign the waiver.
When I saw how
high the tower is, I told myself, "Oh man, what have you got yourself into?" I felt uncertain on how secure everything is, but the crew reassured me that it is safe and no prior accidents
happened! He even joked that if something bad happens on my jump, it will be the
first!
I went to the lounge and
waited for about 15 minutes as there were lots of gutsy guys
doing the jump, and before me, a brave, young lady who was already on her 3rd jump. Seeing them made me more confident and more excited. Then, finally, it was my turn! The crew checked my weight and height, asked
me to go to the jumping area and was interviewed while they prepare all the safety cables
and latches for my jump! I couldn't help but smile all the time, so as to ease my
apprehensions, cover the nervousness inside of me and to show to my wife (who was more nervous than me) that I'm excited and good to go. Then, they asked me to step to the
edge and wave to the camera and to my wife before I jump, as if it was my last goodbye…
After my second attempt of jumping off the edge (obviously, I failed at first... watch the video at the end of this post), I finally made it! It was a 3-5 second free
fall, though I felt it was forever!
Upon reaching the ground, I felt satiated with the experience of being able to conquer the world's highest commercial bungee! It was really amazing and mind-
blowing! And should there be another chance to do so, I would do it all over again.

DeleteRock and roll! Way to go on taking the plunge! I can't believe it's $399, though. With how scary it is, you'd have to pay me to go. FreemanX - Extreme Activities in Australia or New Zealand.
