Let's go the beach, each. Let's go get away! Nicki Minaj's song echoed in my head since March! With the severe LSS, I kept on hearing the sun and the sea calling out my name. It's finally beach weather in the desert city! Yay! On a fine Saturday afternoon, Ed and I pulled out the beach necessities that have been hiding in the closet for several months. On our first beach getaway this season, we headed to the powdery sands of JBR. Though it's quite far from home, it has become our favorite as it is not crowded like any other public beaches in the city.
The Beach at JBR
It's been a while since our last visit, hence the newly opened complex right next to our favorite beach stunned us. It was merely a construction site the last time we were there. Now, a low-rise beachfront mall called The Beach stands beautifully before the pristine sands and blue waters. There are four plazas, two of which are still under construction, where beach-goers can shop, dine and can even watch a flick both indoor and outdoor! Yup, you read it right! The Beach has an open-air cinema which plays not just movies, but football games as well.

Beach Time at JBR Beach
There are loads of new amenities at JBR Beach; a grassy area perfect for picnics, a fenced play area for the kids, a rubber lane for jogging and an inflatable obstacle course in the middle of the sea! Despite all the awesome additions, it was still the natural beauty of our favorite beach that captured our hearts. For us, out of all the beaches in the city, JBR beach has the finest sand, clearest water and the loveliest sunset.

In between The Beach and the beach are odd-shaped cottages which are actually shower and changing rooms. Finally! The lack of facilities was a major downside of JBR beach years ago; I had to endure traveling home with salty skin and sticky tresses. It's great that we can finally freshen up and head straight to a dinner date after hours of beach time.

Stunning Sand Sculptures at JBR Beach
Another unique attraction at The Beach are the awesome sand sculptures created by an Australian artist, Jenny Rossen. These are not simply sandcastles by the beach, but creative artworks! The sand sculptures were intricately made! They are stunningly beautiful under sunshine and marvelously glowing under the moonlight.

There's so much more to love about The Beach! I heard this newest hip spot also offers complimentary yoga classes, musical performances and art exhibits. Looove! If I were you, I'd grab the beach bag and head to The Beach the soonest. Beach bumming has never been this great! :)

Will surely come here when we have the chance, do they always change the sand sculptures?
ReplyDeleteThe sculptures have been around since Feb. ;) I hope it will last til peak of summer.
Deletenice beach location! Jana and I would normally go to the open beach since it's the nearest. I like the Umm Suqeim beach cause it's near Burj Al Arab. but this one looks nice! We only got to the JBR The Walk area for a dinner meet-up. Also, after seeing that obstacle course on the water, I want to go asap before it gets extremely hot again! hehe

I like Umm Suqeim too! ;) The vibe is more relaxed at JBR beach though.
DeleteJBR Beach has become so nice indeed especially with the shower and changing rooms and the grassy field. Drawback only is the parking which we find expensive...
ReplyDeleteGreat for us who don't have a car, no traffic and parking problems. Hehehe. :)
