It was past sunset when we found our way out in the labyrinth alleys of Mutrah Souq. The traditional Omani village facing the sea is fascinating at night, but I wondered how it looks like during the day... more stunning I guess. So, on the next day, before we went on a road trip up in the mountains, we revisited Mutrah.
At 10 am, I was greeted ferociously by Muscat's sunshine. Just when I thought Dubai has the hottest summer, a walk along Mutrah Corniche proved me wrong. The weather was in a scorching 38 degree Celsius, and it's not even the peak of summer yet! But who cares? The fantastic view of whitewashed buildings tuck between the rocky mountains and the clear blue sea left me speechless. There was no room for complains!
We leisurely strolled along the brick pavement of Mutrah Corniche lined with benches, fish statues and golden gazebos where we took a breather from the fierce Omani sun rays. The waterfront promenade offers scenic views of Oman's historical harbor. We passed by Port Sultan Qaboos, the largest port in Muscat which served as a gateway for traders years ago and still functional in this modern day and age. Moored at the port is the Royal Yacht owned by the Sultan of Oman. It looked luxuriously incredible beside the wooden dhows. Across the harbor is the gorgeous Hajar Mountains topped with fortresses and a spectacular white landmark known as the Riyam Monument.

We were lured by the clear turquoise blue waters of the Gulf of Oman while we were having a break at one of the golden gazebos. It was a hot summer morning and all of us wanted to take a dip, hence when we found a stairway to the sea, we immediately took the chance. And as I sat on one of the huge rocks by the corniche, I couldn't help but adore Oman's natural beauty even more.
