Whenever I plan for our trips, I'm always on the look-out for unique accommodations with the best value for money. That's why I chose to stay in a cave hotel in Cappadocia late last year and in a funky, fruity boutique hotel in Phuket early this year.
I went to Thailand with my family last March. We spent 3 days in Patong and called The Frutta Boutique our colorful home away from home. I spotted the pocket-friendly accommodation in my trusted hotel booking site. Despite the rave reviews, I didn't expect much because the rate was less than half of the hotel I initially considered staying in. I guess it really pays to have low expectations as I truly adored the little fruity gem I found!
The Location
The Frutta Boutique is a vibrant, no frills, all fun accommodation in Phuket. It is located in Patong, the most touristy spot in the island, yet it is in the quiet part of the town. It is a short tuktuk ride away from all the happenings in Patong Beach.

Due to a flight delay, we arrived at The Frutta Boutique past midnight. Exhausted and wanted nothing but sleep, I highly appreciated the fast check-in process. Just a few signs here and there, and we got our room keys and a plate of watermelon slices!

The Room
I booked two Standard Mix Fruit Rooms and I'm glad that the staff granted my request of having two rooms adjacent to each other. The room is very simple, not really the hotel kind. It is an apartment style room with bright walls; ours is candy apple red while the parents' room is lime green!
The bed is cozy and covered in clean white sheets. The ensuite bathroom has a complete set of toiletries and rain shower. Those two are actually all I need for a good night's sleep, but The Frutta Boutique offers a few more perks - free WiFi, Cable TV, fridge, and health tips!

The Amenities
Patong Beach is nearby, but for guests who want to take a quick dip, The Frutta Boutique has a small pool. Although the size is just enough for a couple of stokes, it's a good spot to unwind. Located beside the pool is a gym and a bar.
At the roof deck is a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. It was empty when we had a look one morning as breakfast is served in the other restaurant located at the ground floor. I can only guess that it gets lively at night.

The Service
The Frutta Boutique goes the extra mile to satisfy their guests. There are free bicycles, free use of computer, reasonably priced souvenirs and motorbike rentals, and fresh platter of fruits on weekdays. When fruits are not available during our stay, they offered us a savory Thai dish wrapped in banana leaves instead!
The highlight of our stay at The Frutta Boutique is the hospitality. The staff are friendly no matter what time of the day it is. The warmth that welcomed us at midnight during check-in was the same warmth that bid us goodbye during check-out at 4 AM. Their personality shines as bright as the concept of the hotel!
