It's no secret that I hate crowded and noisy places. Deira City Centre has everything I need and all the shops I love, but I always get suffocated, drowned in a sea of crazy shoppers during weekends. So, whenever I feel strangled, having a mild case of enochlophobia, followed by a grumbling stomach, I find my way to the most secluded restaurant in the mall. Wild Ginger is a Pan-Asian restaurant at DCC, far from the massive crowd, hidden inside the Iconic retail store.
Wild Ginger is a hidden gem at Deira City Centre. The restaurant has a fine dining ambiance with reasonable prices on the menu, a decent meal with a food-court price tag. That's why I was terribly sad when I heard the news that the restaurant will be closing its doors very soon! I can't hardly believe that I'll be loosing my quiet spot at the end of December.
As I bid farewell to Wild Ginger, here's a look back on some of my favorites.
stir-fried Thai noodles with shrimps, sweet/spicy sauce and a hint of citrus. Pad Thai Goong: 26 AED |
another best seller, hefty serving of Nasi Goreng: 32 AED savory fried rice served with a chicken skewer and fried chicken in special sauce |
Malaysian Beef (flat noodles with tasty beef in spicy black bean sauce): 36 AED Wok Fried Greens 15 AED |
My top pick at the sushi rolls menu
Crunchy California Maki: 27 AED
If you love Wild Ginger as much as I do, it's about time to re-visit the restaurant and grab you favorite meals for the last time! I'm still wishing that Wild Ginger will just be temporarily closed or be relocated, though the staff told me that there's no plan for that as of the moment. I am hoping to find another hidden gem very soon. So, if you know a quiet dine-out spot in the city, please leave a comment below! :)
Yeah, will be missing Wild Ginger too, much of us will, it had become a Filipino hangout if you noticed, include the Karaoke as well. Last year's news was it was about to be turned into Max's, this time it's said to become Home Center. Hmm, hopefully make that Home Center plus MaX's. But yes, wild ginger has that secluded and not noisy atmosphere. (PS We also usually ask for their Nasi Goreng, talk about value for money).
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend :)
I don't really appreciate the addition of the Karaoke system, it ruins the elegant ambiance kasi. Buti nalang walang kumakanta everytime we eat there. :) Home Center and a Max's restaurant is a good replacement!
DeleteOne of the reasons why I never loved cooking was because I'm always a fan of dining in any restaurants. Ugh! I miss doing those things. We're still locked up here at home since we're still jobless so more home cooking food :)
ReplyDeleteCE 12/18
Same here Jhari, I love dining out so that gives me an excuse not to cook every weekend! :) Have you tried Wild Ginger? I hope you can before they close!
DeleteThe food looks very delicious and expensive. My favorite is the california maki. Sad that the store is closing you say? Is it located in Manila? I don't think I've heard of it yet, I'm a hermit lols
ReplyDeleteI don't think it has a branch in the Philippines, but everything looks good!
DeleteHi Riza, Maan is right, there's no branch in the Philippines... and none in Dubai soon as well! :(
Deletethe sushi rolls looks very tasty, i'm drooling hahaha
ReplyDeleteThis place looks like a great place to dine :)
ReplyDeleteOMG! I'm practically drooling as I look on this pictures. You must have enjoyed your dining experience at that moment. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeen there only once but i did like their food. Will try to visit it once more before it closes down. sigh.
ReplyDeleteI love secluded place too. I am sorry that you will lose your favourite place soon but I hope you fnd a new secret eat away place!
ReplyDeleteWhy are they closing? So sad to hear that. With the those foods you presented, they seem to cater various cuisine from different countries.
ReplyDeleteSad! I hope you'll find a perfect secluded spot soon. :)
ReplyDeleteAwww... it's really sad when one of your fave places closes. I do hope you'll find another quiet place to dine there. :)
