Seafood!!! Just typing the "seafood" word makes me drool. It deserves to have that three exclamation points after! I'm a picky eater but I wouldn't mind having the freshest fisherman's catch anytime or anywhere, whether it is simply home-cooked or a chef's specialty in a restaurant. On our recent trip, Ed arranged a family dinner at Ocho Seafood and Grill, Tacloban's finest seafood restaurant.
Ocho Seafood and Grill is a haven for seafood-lovers. The restaurant is both a local favorite and a tourist destination. No wonder why the place was almost full when we arrived. The restaurant have counters where an array of fresh seafood is displayed. There were fish, mussels, shrimps, crabs and some sea weeds that I haven't seen before. They also have a selection of meat to choose from. There, we had the freedom to pick what we want and have it cooked the way we like it. Taking photos of the display is not allowed. I only got a photo of the counters from afar.

Ocho Seafood and Grill is place to go if you want fresh seafood and fast service! I'm usually too keen on the waiting time, but I hardly noticed it at Ocho. I took some family photos, had a little chit chat, then a wait staff came with our drinks and appetizer. A few minutes later, the whole seafood feast was ready on our table.
Lato Seaweed with calamansi dip: weird-looking but deliciously appetizing |
Mussel Adobo: "Sarad" seashell in a light spicy adobo sauce |
Fish Sinigang: Lapu-Lapu fish in a savory sour soup |
Sizzling Squid: squid with sweet chili sauce served on a sizzling plate, a seafood feast staple |
Chop Suey: sauteed mix vegetables |
Dalandan Juice: Filipino version of Orange Juice |
Ocho Seafood and Grill doesn't need to have an extravagant food presentation to be considered as the finest in town. The food were served very simple, but over-the-top delish! My mom even said the fish sinigang was the best she ever had. Just like anybody else, I don't need frills when I got fresh seafood on my plate and burst of flavors in my mouth, enough said!
