Ed and I turned into big fans of Rotana Hotels and Resorts after our very memorable getaway at The Cove Rotana in Ras Al Khaimah last August. Everything is remarkable at The Cove, so for our trip to Abu Dhabi last September, we decided to book an overnight stay in another Rotana Hotel.
It was actually our second staycation in Yas Island. We have celebrated Ed's birthday for two consecutive years in Yas. Last year, we checked-in at Radisson Blu after his thrilling birthday getaway in Ferrari World. This year, we stayed in Yas Island Rotana before his birthday adventure in Yas Waterworld.
Yas Island Rotana is located in Yas Plaza, just a few minutes away from Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Yas Marina, Yas Links Golf Club and the F1 circuits. It can easily be reached by public transportation (take the bus 190 across the main terminal). Since we were quite tired from the inter-city bus ride and the sight seeing, we opted to ride a cab from the city to Yas Island (fare: around 40-50AED).
As expected, Yas Island Rotana's hospitality is just as superb as The Cove's. Before checking in, a staff welcomed us at the luxurious lobby and immediately asked if we want to have some tea or coffee. Ed and I needed nothing but an hour of good rest before visiting another must-see attraction in Abu Dhabi, so we declined the offer and proceeded to the check-in counter.
The check-in process was smooth. We were already inside our classic room in mere 10 minutes after arrival! We booked the cheapest accommodation and we were pleasantly surprised to see that it is a very spacious room with plush furnishings and marble bathroom. Aside from the essentials, it also has an office desk and complimentary high speed internet connection.
The room has a spectacular view of Yas Island's main attractions. It faces the F1 circuit grandstand and Ferrari World. The Yas Viceroy Hotel is also in sight. We had the chance to see Viceroy's LED canopy in all its radiance at night and at sunrise.
Rotana offers the warmest service; truly one of the bests in the Hotel Industry. The staff of Yas Island Rotana gave Ed a Birthday Cake. It was a sweet, delicious and classic chocolate mousse!
The morning after, we went to see the recreation facilities of Yas Island Rotana. There is an outdoor temperature controlled pool lined by comfortable sun loungers and umbrellas. There is also a children's pool area with an awning to protect the kids from the sweltering heat during midday. Guests can also enjoy a relaxing time in the jacuzzi, sauna and massage rooms.
Before checking out and heading to Yas Waterworld, we had a power breakfast at Choices, the hotel's all day dining restaurant. Yas Island Rotana gave us another reason to choose a Rotana hotel for our next getaway! I can hardly wait for it!
