1.
Ryder Cup
This year’s Ryder Cup takes place from
September 23rd to 28th at Gleneagles, Scotland. This is a
fantastic time to visit the country, as it is also hosting Homecoming Scotland. Around these dates, KLM is offering
indirect flights from Abu Dhabi to Glasgow International, from where a one
hour’s drive or short train ride will be required to reach your destination. Organize your transport and accommodation
now to secure your spot and get the best prices, and remember to exchange your AED
to GBP ahead of time. Travelex UAE
offers great rates and allows you to collect currency from Abu Dhabi

2. Dubai
World Cup
Prestigious across the globe, the Dubai
World Cup is an event that makes the UAE proud. With US$27.25 million in prizes
up for grabs over nine races, the competition will again be fierce. The horse racing event takes place on March
29th at the Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse, Nad Al Sheba – just
150km from Abu Dhabi. Tickets are available from 25 AED, and you can purchase yours here.
You have until 15:00 GST January 30th
to put your name in for the second sales phase of FIFA World Cup tickets, so
make sure to submit
your application soon. The tournament will kick off with host
Brazil against Croatia on June 12th, with the final on July 13th
at the Estadio do Maracana in the capital city, Rio de Janeiro. Matches are hosted across the country, but
the only direct flights to Brazil from Abu Dhabi this June are to Sao Paulo
Guarulhos airport – limited seats are still available with Etihad Airways.
4. Abu
Dhabi Grand Prix
From November 21st to 23rd,
Abu Dhabi will host the final Grand Prix of the 2014 F1 season. Keep an eye on
the Yas Marina Circuit
website for tickets and incredible weekend packages. The recent rule
change dictating that double points will be awarded in the last race
ensures this will be an incredibly exciting event. With 50 points up for grabs,
overall standings could easily change on the last lap.
