I could say that I got the most comfortable spot without spending a fortune during the New Year's Eve Gala at Downtown Dubai. I was in Burj Park having the utmost relaxation in a picnic blanket with my family. Our spot was a vantage point for the dazzling fireworks display. However, there was a downside. We could only see half of the fascinating LED show. :(
The LED-illumination on Burj Khalifa's facade is a Guinness World Record holder. Too bad, I wasn't able to get a full view of it when Dubai's iconic structure clinched the award. But then, the morning after, I learned that there's nothing to be sorry about as the record-breaking display will continue until January 9, 2015!
I guess you know what I did next. :)

With the supportive parents and the husband in tow, I went back to Downtown Dubai to relive the moment. This time, in the most perfect spot that I know; right in the footbridge that connects The Dubai Mall, Fortnum and Mason, and The Address Downtown.
There, I witnessed it all.
The LED show at the facade of Burj Khalifa commenced with a Happy New Year greeting. It was followed by a display of remarkable portraits of the leaders of the UAE. Then, intricate Arabic patterns ran up and down the 828 metres high building. It was beyond amazing!

The finale of the show was a tribute to the GCC region. Flags of United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait enveloped the world's tallest tower. For me, it simply meant unity. And I think, that's the best way to kick off a year; brotherhood, peace... world peace.

Burj Khalifa LED Show takes place every hour from 6:45 pm to 11:45 pm until January 9, 2015. Here's my amateur video of the Guinness World Record's largest LED-illuminated facade. But, I highly recommend seeing the spectacle before your very eyes. Enjoy it while it lasts. :)
