I couldn't let the LOVE month end without blogging about our Valentine's date night at Carlton Palace Hotel in Dubai. It has been fourteen days and I am now on the other side of world (currently having the time of my life in the Philippines), but I still couldn't forget the wonderful dinner that we had.
Carlton Palace Hotel may sound new, but it is actually the former Metropolitan Palace which is already an established name in the hospitality industry. Our memorable Valentine's evening commenced with a warm welcome to the luxurious property. We felt like we were transported to another era when we walked in the Baroque-inspired hotel lobby. An elegant double staircase and romantic pieces from the piano tugged at my heart strings!

A special Valentine's Day dinner was offered at Carlton Palace Hotel's all day dining restaurant - Al Shindagah. The ambiance was romantic. The restaurant's entrance aisle was strewn with rose petals and each table was nicely decorated. The service was great through and through. The staff were warm, polite, and never intrusive. We were able to carry on with our long, cheesy Valentine's conversation without countless "How's your meal?" kind of questions. :)

The Valentine's D'Amore 3-course set menu of Al Shindagah is one of the most reasonable Valentine's Day offerings in the city. Ed and I were surprised to be served with beautifully presented and tastefully good dishes because, honestly, we never thought 300 AED on Valentine's Day could go a long way.
The starter dishes were fondly called The Affection. Ed had fresh marinated Norwegian Salmon with avocado salsa, and served with mesclun on the side. He said the salmon was perfectly cured, the dressing is finely piquant.
While my husband raved about his starter, I quietly savored my warm wild mushroom cappuccino topped with a froth of chili milk. It's not like all the other mushroom soups that I had. Every sip was wholesome and had a kick of spice!

For the Main Temptation, Ed had peppercorn crusted lamb chops with free range chicken breast, while I had a tenderloin steak and grilled jumbo shrimps. The steak was cooked just the way I like it; medium-well. It is firm on the outside, all the juices tucked inside! I also enjoyed the grilled jumbo prawns. It is succulent, well-seasoned, and HUGE that had to share a portion with the husband!
I couldn't tell how good Ed's choice of mains are, but I bet those delicious looking rack of lamb and fine cut of chicken breast were as drool-worthy as mine!

We capped off our lovely dinner with Dates Delight. The dessert plate has two slices of chocolate dates cake sweetened with wild honey, skewers of mixed berries, and drizzles of Callebaut truffle chocolate! It looks and tastes delightful, however we both wished the cake was a little more moist. Overall, it was still a good way to end the meal.

Right after dinner, we went to the Moonlight Lounge for complimentary cocktails. The bar is located at the roof deck, offering an awesome view of the busy streets of Deira. Choices were limited, but the bartender went out of his way to prepare what I wanted. Commendable service, I must say.
