For someone who is obsessed with all things pink and pretty, the opening of Serendipity 3 in Dubai is a dream come true! The whimsical restaurant has been featured in movie scenes and TV series episodes - the most famous is probably the scene of John Cusack and Kate Bekinsale having frozen hot chocolate in the romantic comedy film Serendipity. Have you seen that movie? No? Oh, watch it NOW pretty please. :)
Serendipity 3 of NYC currently has two fresh outlets in Dubai. With its popularity, I guess there will be more in the future, but as of now, the fans and the curious ones can have their frrrozen hot chocolate fix in Dubai Festival City and City Walk.

Ed and I had breakfast at Serendipity 3 in DFC last weekend. I opted to visit in the morning as newly-opened famous restaurants are often crowded for dinner. We arrived past 9 AM. It wasn't busy; only a few tables were occupied and staff were donning fresh smiles.
Serendipity 3 in Dubai Festival City is oh so lovely! For me, it is every inch a perfect date venue - warm pastel tones, fancy furniture, Tiffany lamp shades, shabby chic pieces! There are even iron cages for the "lovebirds"! :)

Service was friendly and somewhat brisk. A staff welcomed us and asked if we prefer to sit near the glass window with stunning waterfront views or in the middle of the restaurant where we can fully soak up the romantic ambiance Serendipity 3 is known for. I was initially torn, but upon seeing that most tables near the window are occupied (arguably the best spot for breakfast), Ed and I settled in a quiet nook with mint chairs and marble table.
A staff immediately gave us the menu which is quite gigantic, both in size and in options. Serendipity 3 serves seven breakfast varieties until 12 noon, and loads of choices for appetizers, salads, soups, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, entrees, drinks and desserts all throughout the day.

I had the fanciest Eggs Florentine in Serendipity 3. This classic breakfast dish was taken to a whole new level. Three warm lightly toasted brioche were topped with perfectly poached eggs, spinach, creamy hollandaise dressing, and drizzled with balsamic reduction. Slices of cherry tomatoes were scattered in the sides.

Ed had Three Cheese Omelet. It is simply an omelet teeming with cheddar, jack and Swiss cheese, beef bacon and mushrooms. Although the portion is generous, the taste honestly fell short of our expectations. No special distinction from all the other omelets we've had in the past. On the other hand, the crispy garlic potatoes and dressed salad on the side were wonderfully tasty.

Ed and I channeled Jonathan and Sara on their first ever date in Serendipity 3 where each had a bowl of the world famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. I had the classic one, while Ed had the Mochaccino Coffee variety.
So what's behind this uber popular chocolate treat? Well, it has 14 different kinds of melted chocolates mixed with some "secret fabulousness". The bowl is overflowing with the secret concoction and topped with thick whipped cream.
Since it was our first ever dining experience at Serendipity 3, we had no idea that it is more of a dessert rather than a drink. Probably the reason why it came later, when we were already munching on our breakfast and wondering where our drinks are!
The verdict? Just like Marilyn Monroe, Serena of Gossip Girls, Oprah, and Jackie O... I love it! Just a little brain freeze in between, but I love it! :)
