Ed and I rarely wake up early during weekends, but when we do, we take it as an opportunity to check out the top breakfast places and promotions in the city. One of the best brekkie deals that we have stumbled on to is Little Bangkok's unlimited breakfast.

Little Bangkok is a casual Thai restaurant with several branches in Dubai. If I'm not mistaken, there are already 7 Little Bangkoks in Dubai. Unli breakfast is served every weekend in Sheikh Zayed Road outlet and everyday in Al Manara branch. We had the breakfast deal countless times in SZR as it is the nearest to our place and the most accessible as well. It is located in UP Tower, just beside Emirates Towers Metro Station.

I love the vibe at Little Bangkok in SZR. Colorful lanterns hang from the wooden ceiling. Walls are in rich shades and patterns. Furnishings are in dark wood. The place definitely mirrors the urban Thai concept of the restaurant chain.

Little Bangkok's unlimited breakfast includes everything on the breakfast menu, including unlimited tea, coffee and water. It currently costs 64 AED per person. Although it was 5 dirhams cheaper last year, I could still consider it a good deal.

Now, on to the breakfast!
First up, usually, is a basket of Patongko. It is a traditional fried bread stick served with sweet condensed milk on the side. I could finish a whole basket of this! It is golden crisp on the outside, chewy soft inside.

Next is a hefty serving of Thai dim sum! Different varieties are offered at Little Bangkok and we usually have a little bit of everything in one basket. There are Sui Mai - steamed dumpling filled with minced chicken or prawn, Buns - soft steamed buns filled with meat in barbecue sauce, and more types of dumplings - vegetarian or chicken!

We also go for the Thai Eggs. It is actually a simple scrambled or sunny side up egg dish served on top of sauteed vegetables in a hot plate. Rice or mantou can be ordered along with this.

Little Bangkok's Congee is also not to be missed. This bowl of rice porridge with chunks of shrimp warms my tummy really well in the morning. It is filling, creamy and savory. Absolutely a comfort food!

New on the breakfast menu is the Wonton Soup. It was not there last year. Or did I just missed it? Anyway, wonton soup is a good option if congee seems too heavy. It is a hearty bowl of chicken or shrimp wontons in a light broth.

Of course, breakfast wouldn't be complete without coffee... and Little Bangkok makes a mean cup! Mean in really good way! :) It is also unlimited. So, it's usually latte now and cappuccino later for me.

There's nothing to hate about Little Bangkok's unlimited breakfast except for the slow service sometimes, which usually happens when the restaurant is packed. This unli breakfast deal can only be availed between 8 am and 12 noon, so here's a piece of advice: Come early and come hungry!
