Now that the world is slowly coping up with the COVID-19 situation - safety protocols have been implemented here and there - Ed and I have also learned to embrace the new norm. Recently, we started to spend more time outdoors for a natural dose of Vitamin D which I believe we are deficient with by now. And being home buddies and couch potatoes for several months, we finally opted to break away from the mundane household routine with hotel staycations.
Last week, we spent a night at Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre Hotel. Freshly reopened and launched with an ALLSAFE label, we were confident that we'll experience a much-needed city break with peace of mind.

Located in a prime spot in Deira, Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre Hotel offers convenience and comfort for both tourists and UAE residents. It is connected to City Centre Deira shopping mall and the metro station is a quick stroll away.
We were warmly greeted upon arrival. No handshakes but with the soft pashmina being wrapped around our necks, we felt welcomed and secured. The implementation of safety measures is very much evident in the hotel lobby. Everyone is wearing facemasks. The temperature is being checked right at the doorway. Hand sanitizers are placed in relevant locations. And all guests have to fill out a health declaration form.

Staying in a Family Room at Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre Hotel
Our room was upgraded to a spacious Family Room on the 6th floor. It was sealed with an ALLSAFE sticker; a guarantee that our room has undergone extensive cleaning. We were surprised by a bed decorated with rose petals and towel swans. The romantic setting is perfect as we just celebrated our wedding anniversary the prior week.
Other room features that we loved are:

- Fast and free internet access
- Well-lighted bathroom
- Complete bathroom amenities (No need to call housekeeping for dental kits!)

Chilling at Azure Pool and Lounge
As seekers of sunshine, we spent a good amount of time at Azure Pool and Lounge. Cabanas and sunbeds are arranged around the swimming pool. With the bar offering light bites and refreshing drinks, Azure is the ideal spot to unwind and soak up the sun!

An hour of pampering at Fit and Spa
For tired and over-worked muscles, a rejuvenating massage is a matchless reward. Fit and Spa Lounge located on the hotel's 7th floor came in handy with its customized massages and treatments. Walking into this spotless urban sanctuary was like leaving all the stressors behind. The ambiance is tranquil, the aroma is amazing, the staff is accommodating.
Ed and I had our massages in different rooms as couples room is not available in the facility. Nonetheless, we happily met at the reception after one hour; fully revitalized and each with an amazing story to tell about the spa journey!
Here's my story:
Elsie, my massage therapist, is professionally trained. She applied the right amount of pressure on my worn-out muscles, focused on the tight knots in my shoulders, and took extra care of my lower back where I have spondylolisthesis. I informed her about my underlying condition before the treatment. She used hot stone to knead the tensed areas and soothed them out with a cool balm.
The massage bed is also worth mentioning. It is comfortably warm and cozy that I could easily doze off to sleep! With the exceptional experience, I am not surprised why Fit and Spa have won several awards!

Al Fresco Lunch in Medley
We have dined in Medley several times in the past, but it was mostly for theme night buffets. During our staycation, we opted to have lunch on the terrace. The weather was inviting and Medley's terrace is perfect for al fresco dining.
Medley is currently offering a 3-course lunch. The set menu is diverse and it changes daily. For 85 AED, we found it of good value. The salads are fresh and in a hefty serving size. For the main course, Ed had mixed grill while I ordered pasta. I loved the pesto dish but it was the meat skewers that stood out. Juicy and grilled to perfection, I couldn't help but take some chunks from my husband's plate! To cap off our lunch, we had creme brulee and a lemon-based dessert.

Dinner at La Fabrique
Apart from Medley, another dining option at Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre Hotel is La Fabrique. I was skeptical about trying it out at first because it's a sports bar and I'm not really into sports, but there's actually more to it!
We went to La Fabrique for dinner. The bar is so chic and stylish. Screens are placed in every nook for sports fans. Given that it was a weekday, we were amused to see the place almost packed while social distancing is still observed.
We settled in a corner couch and indulged in pub grubs and hearty dishes. Ed and I loved the Barbecue Beef Back Ribs. It's fall-off-the-bone and oh-so-flavorful! We would actually go back to La Fabrique just for it! And next time, we'd surely bring our friends as it is a great venue for get-togethers!
